A great game from Newry City u11s against a battling ACFC Hawks 2014. The first half was quite scrappy with the midfield fighting for procession. That was until Rhys Hempkin broke free on the left to arrow a shot past the opposition keeper. Newry grew in confidence but despite continued pressure – the score remained 1-0 at half time.

After the break, Newry came out fast and really upped their game in terms of pressurising their opponents on the ball. Newry soon made it 2-0 with a well worked team goal again scored by Rhys Hempkin.

The work rate shown by the Newry players produced a very dominant display and further goals by Noah Turley, Karol Oleszczuk, Deaglàn Finnegan & Daìthì Gorman sealed an impressive 6-0 victory. Some brilliant football played and great goals scored – the pick of which was Deaglàn Finnegan scoring a fantastic lobbed effort after a great through ball from Daìthì Gorman.

Team:- Rory O’Hagan (GK), Max McKeown, Rio Carroll, Daniel Drumm, Noah Kearns, Deaglàn Finnegan, Daìthì Gorman, Karol Oleszczuk, Rhys Hempkin (captain), Noah Turley.

Newry City AFC U12s put in their best efforts at the weekend, scoring first with an effort from Luke Dinsmore.

Unfortunately the game didn’t work out the way we wanted it with Brookvale finding an equaliser and going on to win the game 3-1.

A special mention to Leon on making his debut for the club and almost scoring!

We wish Brookvale all the best in the next round of the NI Cup.
