Match Day Help Required

With the new season fast approaching Newry City are looking for volunteers to help around the ground on match days. In particular we require someone to operate the snack facility inside the ground. If you are interested please contact Laura on 07857077176 or laurah0817@hotmail.co.uk

Experience and Quality to the Newry Squad

Newry Manager Darren Mullen is delighted with his latest signing Mark Hughes. ‘Mark is a massive signing for the club and a statement of intent in terms of how serious we are in not wanting to rest on our laurels. He is coming straight out of playing premiership football and is a classy player. His experience and skill level especially on the left hand side gives us a great boost and adds to what is now a really competitive squad. If we are to become competitive within this league, then we need players of Marks ability and I’m delighted he has decided to come back to the club.’

Mark Hughes… “It feels good to be back at Newry, I’m looking forward to the new season. It looks like Darren is putting together a good team and hopefully we can push for promotion.”

Paudie signs for City

Along with securing the services of Marty Havern, Newry City have also added the experienced Paudie Smith to the squad. Commenting on the signing, Newry Manager Darren Mullen said “Paudie is a terrific signing for us and comes with plenty of premiership experience. Whilst most of our signings have been lads in their late teens and early twenties we are going to need experienced players to help them along. It will be a tough physical league and someone like Paudie will be of great benefit to us. Apart from a few lads on trial I expect that to be the end of our signings and I’m now looking forward to preseason.”
Paudie Smith ‘I just want to say I’m delighted to be joining Newry. I’m looking forward to the challenge and for us to be pushing for promotion. There are some really good players at the club and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be up there come the end of the season.’

Havern returns to The Showgrounds

Newry manager Darren Mullen is delighted to add Marty Havern to his list of summer signings “To get a player of Marty’s calibre back at the club is a big boost for us. He is another one of the 2012 squad to return to the club and brings a wealth of experience including at Premiership level. His enthusiasm to play at The Showgrounds again was evident and he joins what is already a strong strike force. I’m sure the fans will also be delighted to see how hard we have been working to secure the best players available to us for the coming season.”

Marty Havern “I’m delighted to have signed back for Newry. I’ve won trophies and played in the top flight before with the club, and I know that’s where the club aspires to be again and I want to be part of it.”

Mullen welcomes Marron to the Showgrounds

Newry Manager Darren Mullen is very pleased to add Goal Keeper Martin Marron to his Summer signings. “Martin is another very good signing for us. Although he’s still only 20 he has played for two premiership sides already so he comes with good experience. He will add competition to the keepers we already have at the club and with Micky Keenan’s coaching I’m sure he will become even better. That’s four young local lads we have signed so far and proves that we are now attracting the best local talent back to the club which bodes well for the future.’

Martin Marrron  ‘I’m delighted to have signed for my home club. Newry have been progressing very well and I hope I can contribute to what is already a good squad. I’m also looking forward to working with Micky Keenan who’s an Irish league legend and can’t wait for preseason to start.’
