Newry City AFC wish to extend an invitation to view our proposals for community and sports facility development at Newry Showgrounds and to hear your opinions on the proposals before a planning application is submitted. Please find attached invite.
Representatives from your club/organisation are invited to come along to:
The Showgrounds, Greenbank Industrial Estate, Newry, BT34 2QF on Thursday 26th January 2017 at 7:30pm.
There will be a short presentation on Newry City AFC development plans that include community space i.e. community and training rooms, new hybrid stadium pitch and floodlit 3G pitch at The Showgrounds.
We are actively seeking sports clubs, schools, community organisations and charities who may wish to utilise the proposed shared community and sporting facilities.
Newry City AFC are inviting a range of sports clubs, community groups, schools and charities to attend this event. Could the proposals enhance or provide space for your organisation’s activities?
Members of the project development team will be available at the event to discuss the proposals and answer questions you may have. We hope you can come along.

We were delighted to facilitate The Respect Project for their Sport and Thought project at The Showground’s on Monday when coaches from Queens Park Rangers joined the Respect team to coach children from St Malachy’s, St Joseph’s and St Patrick’s schools.
Newry Manager Darren Mullen commented “Marty Connell and his coaches deserve great credit for the work they are doing in the local community with their project.
This project benefits kids on the pitch and more importantly off the pitch and we are only too glad to help in a very small way.”
The club is holding a fundraising quiz in the Social Club following the Intermediate Cup match against Crumlin Star at the Showgrounds on Saturday 21st January. It’s just £3 per head so come along and join in on the fun – all welcome!
