It is with great pleasure that we can announce the appointment of Grainne Walsh as the club’s new physiotherapist.
Grainne comes to us with a very impressive CV, having previously worked with the Australian Kangaroos Rugby League team for the Rugby League World Cup in 2013, Aughlisnafin GAC, Dundrum GAC, Castlewellan GAC and London Senior Hurling GAC.

We are also pleased to welcome physiotherapist student Janine Hegarty on board at the club. Janine is currently studying at Teeside University in Middlesbrough and she will be working alongside Grainne to gain some experience in this field until she returns to her studies next month.
Newry City AFC are very much looking forward to working with both of the girls in what promises to be a great season ahead.
Senior Team Manager Darren Mullen said of the new appointments:
“We are delighted to welcome Grainne and Janine to the club. They have both proved their worth in the short period of time they have been involved with us and have helped add to the professionalism we are trying to instil at the club.
“Grainne has extensive experience in dealing with sports injuries and we are happy to help Janine in the course of her education.”
He added, “I have no doubt they will continue to provide great assistance off the pitch to allow every possible opportunity for us to succeed on it.”
The draw for the 1st round of the Irish Cup was made this afternoon. Newry have been drawn away to Northern Ireland Intermediate League side Ardstraw FC. They are based in Newtownstewart, County Tyrone. The match will take place on Saturday, 22nd August, 2015. Kick off 1.30pm.

Newry City AFC are delighted to announce that an exciting Supporters 5-a-side Tournament will be held on the 3G pitches at Newry Showgrounds this summer. The tournament will take place on Saturday, 4th July 2015, and is open to supporters from across the Irish League, League of Ireland and beyond.
The tournament will kick off at midday on July 4th and finish by 4pm. All teams are required to pay an entry fee of £70 (Paypal payments are accepted) which must be paid by Saturday, 20th June. The winners of the tournament will receive £200 and an engraved trophy. Each team can have up to a maximum of seven players.
The format of the tournament will be determined by how many teams enter and will be decided once final numbers are in. Each team will however be guaranteed at least three games. The draw for the tournament will be made by First Team Manager Darren Mullen.
The Clubhouse will be open throughout the day and all fans are welcome in for drinks and complimentary food once the tournament has ended.
