McCullough Signs at The Showgrounds

Newry City AFC are delighted to announce the signing of Scott McCullough.

The 33-year-old midfielder, who also operate in defence, joins the club following the expiry of his contract at Annagh United.

Assistant Manager Ryan Moffatt is pleased to have brought in his former team-mate, having fought off competition for his signature.

“Scott was one of the first people we wanted to bring to the club,” he said.

“He rarely misses matches and has played hundreds of games at a high level. We’re delighted he has chosen us over other clubs, who made a big effort to sign him, but he wants to be part of the project we’re building here at The Showgrounds and he will play a massive part in that.”

“This is a massive club and far too big to be playing in the PIL, no disrespect to the league,” feels McCullough.

“The potential to be here and be part of helping the club get back up the leagues where we belong was a big driving force in the move.

“When you come down here, you realise how big a set-up it is. I’ve played against Newry plenty of times so I know what the fans are like. They want to win and they want the team to be in the highest league possible.

“Hopefully I bring them some happiness, and we can get there.”

“I’m delighted to have joined Newry,” said Chambers.

“Stuarty and me go way back, from before the time I was with him at Carrick. He’s a really good manager and I know the way he works, so that was a big factor in me signing.

“Although we might have been relegated last season, Newry are a massive club, and I can’t wait to get started and play in front of the fans.”

Manager Stuart King is delighted to have secured his third signing of the month, following the return of both Thomas Lockhart and Matthew Rendina.

“Jack is one of the best technical players I have worked with. He’s still young but has already built up considerable experience at a high level in the game.

“As importantly, he’s also an ultimate professional who wants to succeed and be part of the project underway here at the club.”

Martin McLoughlin, Darren Mullen and Gary Wilson

All change at Newry City

Outgoing Chairman Martin McLoughlin and incumbent Vice-Chairman Gary Wilson welcome Darren Mullen as the new Club Chairman of Newry City AFC.

Following Martin’s decision not to seek re-election to his long serving role as Chairman, NCAFC are pleased to announce that, at this year’s Club AGM, Darren Mullen has been elected unopposed as Club Chairman.

Darren’s affinity and passion for the club has been apparent for all to see having served as trustee and twice as first team manager since the Club reformed in 2013. We are delighted that the club will continue to be in safe hands through the challenging and, no doubt, rewarding times ahead.

The Club once again thank Martin for his loyal service as Chairman since the club reformed. He will continue as a member of the Management Committee and Development Team and has recently taken on stewardship of the club’s Academy Lottery which is due to be available online shortly, as well as via the usual outlets.

The Club will now, under Darren’s leadership, focus on the twin goals of continuing the development of the ground into a state-of-the-art facility for the community and getting back to the level of football at which everyone believes we should be playing.

Chairman Darren Mullen commented “I’m delighted and honoured to be voted in as Chairman of the club. “Everyone knows how much Newry City means to me and I know there is a serious amount of work to be done both on and off the pitch.

“My role is now to make sure that off the pitch is as successful as possible to bring that on-field success.

“I want to assure the Newry City fans that I will give everything I have within this role to make that happen. That process has already started and I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead along with everyone else at the club.”
