Lotto ticket sellers required

Newry City AFC Commercial Manager Gary Wilson is calling on more supporters and local businesses to come on board and assist with selling Club Lotto tickets on a weekly basis.

He said, “We really need Newry supporters now more than ever to come forward and help in any way they can, as the club continues its goal of getting back to the top tier of Irish League football.

“The Club Lotto is a great source of revenue for us, bringing in much needed funds to the club every year, thanks to the dedicated group of supporters who run it. But we really need more ticket sellers.

“Some people out there might think they won’t be able to sell many tickets but even if you can sell  ten a week to your family and friends this will bring in an extra £500 per year for the club – which is massive. The Jackpot at the moment is over seven and a half thousand so the tickets should sell themselves, we just need more supporters and local businesses  out there to help us make them available to a wider range of local people.”

If you think you have what it takes to help the club out, contact Gary Wilson on 07745112320 or any member of the club’s committee for more information on how to become a Lotto ticket seller.

Canal Court Extend Deal as Main Sponsor

Newry City are delighted to announce that the Canal Court Hotel have agreed to extend their association with Newry City AFC as main club sponsor for the next three seasons. A willing supporter of NCAFC since the club reformed this commitment from the Canal Court is welcome news for the club as it embarks on its first season in Championship football.

Newry City AFC Manager Darren Mullen “To have the Canal Court extend their deal with us is a great boost for the club. They came on board when we were playing Mid-Ulster football and have remained a loyal sponsor on our return to the Irish League. It is a partnership that works well and I certainly hope that continues in the years to come.'”

Canal Court Hotel “The Canal Court Hotel are very proud to hold the title of Main Sponsor for Newry City AFC. It is a great relationship to have between a large local business and one of the biggest sports clubs in the local area. As a business built up of local employees we are delighted to help the club develop. It is particularly satisfying to have been associated with Newry City AFC from the beginning and watch as local management and players have brought the club back to senior football which can only be good for the development of sport in our local area. We would like to wish the club the best of luck for the season ahead.”

Room for Engine at The Showgrounds

A familiar face returned to Newry City on Tuesday when Darren King put pen to paper joining Darren Mullens squad as they prepare for life in The Championship next season. Undoubtedly a class act Engine also brings years of recent experience at a higher level of football to The Showgrounds and will be a massive addition to the club, a fact which was not lost on the manager “Although we have a big squad and there is competition for places throughout, it’s very hard to pass up the opportunity of signing someone of Engine’s calibre. As a former captain he returns to the club with a wealth of experience and is a welcome addition to what we hope will be a competitive squad in next season’s Championship. A player with the commitment and enthusiasm which will rub off on others and the fact he can play in a variety of roles will be of great benefit. His eagerness to sign for Newry was evident and I’ve no doubt the players and fans will be glad to see him back at the club.

Darren King commented “I’m delighted to be back at Newry and hopefully my Premiership and Championship experience can add to what is already a very strong and competitive squad. I’m really looking forward to getting back on the pitch at The Showground’s and playing with some the best players in the local area, a lot of whom I know extremely well both on and off the pitch.”

Jake Redpath Signs at The Showgrounds

While Gary and Lauren have been trail blazing the Redpath name at The Showgrounds for the last few years next season it will be Jake’s turn to make his mark with Newry City after he signed for the club on Tuesday. Previously attached to Newry as a youth player Jake has enjoyed a number of successful seasons at Rathfriland and more recently at Dollingstown where he won Player of the Year awards in each of the last two seasons which obviously attracted the attention of Newry manager Darren Mullen who commented “Jake is a player who has been on our radar for the past few years and thankfully we have managed to sign him. Since he left the club as a youth player he has developed into a really good defender and I feel he is well fit to play at this level. He is another determined young player that we have added to the squad which means we have quality options throughout every position.”

Jake added “It’s a pleasure to have signed for Newry City, a club that is on its way back to where it deserves to be. I know it’s not going to be easy and there’s going to be a lot of competition for places, but I’m going to give 100 percent and hopefully I can add something to the squad.”
