NCAFC Five a Side Tournament

At training on Wednesday night the players swapped shuttle runs and passing drills for a Christmas five (or six!!) aside tournament. With bragging rights and selection boxes at stake every ball was keenly contested.

The tournament ended with Ryan Rockets and Shealans Stars in joint last place winning two and losing four of their six games.

Although Mark Patton was the happiest man on the night having secured his favourite M&M selection box it was Mark Hughes that secured the Player of the Tournament award.

NCAFC Christmas draw winners

NCAFC Visit to Daisy Hill Childrens Ward

Players management and staff of Newry City AFC paid their annual visit to the children’s ward of Daisy Hill hospital along with Santa this afternoon.

 

They were delighted to be able to bring some Christmas cheer to children and their parents in the ward along with entertaining the nursing staff.

On behalf of the club we would like to wish all the children a speedy recovery and we are sure Santa won’t forget them on Christmas Day.

Raymond Mullen RIP

It is with deep regret that we learn of the passing of Raymond Mullen, father to esteemed first team manager Darren and first team player Neil. Raymond was a great supporter of the club and a very popular man at the Showgrounds. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Mullen family at this sad time. May he Rest In Peace. Raymonds funeral mass will take place on Monday 14th November at 12pm in Newry Cathedral.

Newry City AFC also learn with deep regret of the death of former Newry Town player and committee member, Tom Hegan who sadly passed away during the week. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hegan family also at this sad time. May he Rest In Peace.

There will be a minutes silence in honour of both club men prior to todays fixture v Sport & Leisure Swifts.

Match Day Stewards required

Newry City AFC require some further volunteers to act as Match Day Stewards; a role which is vital in the club’s plans to progress up the Irish League ladder.

Names must be forwarded to our Health & Safety Officer Andrew Boyd on his email – andrew.boyd@Haldane-fisher.com – or to any member of the Newry City AFC Committee by the first week in November 2016.

Training will be given either later this year or in early 2017.
