Newry City AFC Link Up With O’Neills

In preparation for life in the Danske Bank Premiership Newry City AFC are delighted to announce a 3 year kit deal with O’Neills Sportswear. This is a fantastic opportunity for the club to work with a local company who will supply our teams and supporters with quality products.

Newry Manager Darren Mullen commented “We are delighted to link up with O’Neills for the next 3 years. They are a company renowned for quality and I’ve no doubt the fans will be impressed with the new kits once they are launched. The fact that they have a major store in the City makes it a perfect fit for everyone involved.”

Commenting about the partnership John Murphy (O’Neills Field Sales Executive) said “We’re really excited about supplying Newry AFC for the next 3 years, particularly during a very successful period for the club, having recently reached Northern Irelands top division. The new kit will stay true to the club’s colours of classic blue and incorporate a lightweight and moisture management fabric to keep the players cool, dry and comfortable whilst on the field. We look forward to strengthening the partnership with the team and fans in the years to come.”

Season 2018/19 Taking Shape

As we get closer to pre-season, Manager Darren Mullen is delighted to add another three fantastic signings to his squad. “Stefan Lavery and Tiarnán Rushe are two lads that I’m sure will excite the fans. They are both skilful attacking players with pace and are exactly what we will need for the coming season. Stefan already has Premiership experience with Dungannon and I’ve no doubt he will fit in with our style of play. Tiarnán is a player with great potential and has shown a willingness to commit to soccer this season. That’s four signings we have made who were on our list for the Premiership and along with Mark McCabe re-signing it’s been a good day for the club.”

Stefan Lavery “I was absolutely delighted when Darren approached me to talk about signing for the club, I made my first appearance in the Premiership with Dungannon Swifts when I was 15 and played in it for 6 or 7 seasons so I know what to expect.

I played against Newry last season with Portadown and admired the type of football the boys play and especially how tight knit the boys are.

The whole story about Newry with the four promotions in five years definitely attracted me to the club, the work Darren and everyone at The Showgrounds have done is exceptional. I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Tiarnán Rushe “I’m over the moon to be back playing for Newry. I followed the teams results last year and got down to The Showgrounds as often as I could. I was massively impressed with the way the lads play.

I’m delighted Darren has given me another chance at the club after the first short spell I had and I just can’t wait to get going now at this stage.”

Newry City AFC are also delighted to announce the re-signing of last seasons Championships leading goal scorer Mark McCabe.
